Dream At Night

When I was born some time ago,
I was afraid of being alone
Always slept with the bed light on,
when I lay awake I couldn't wait till dawn.

Hoped that some day it would disappear
or that even God would take my fear
No one knows the black man's name
Will he come and take me far away

Can't you see him, he is hiding right under my bed
I can feel him, he is listening,
wanna be somewhere else instead

Tonight I need you by my side,
it's a place where I can hide
And the feeling I get from you is so hard to find,
the very same kind,
it is too good to be true

I spent time thinking about yesterday,
I've grown up and I walked away
I've got two kids and a lovely wife
and I still dream at night.

It is still there in my nightmare,
right here in my mind
Can't you take it, even break it
or keep it behind the line

Tonight I need you by my side,
it's a place where I can hide
And the feeling I get from you is so hard to find,
the very same kind,
it is too good to be true

And the steps outside are driving me insane
and the drops of fear keep knocking in my brain
If there is something I can do,
I'll give all to get a clue, help me

Now I'm feeling as if I'm bleeding,
my thoughts are torn apart
When I find him, I will blind him
and face him in the dark

Tonight I need you by my side,
it's place where I can hide
And the feeling I get from you is so hard to find,
the very same kind,
it is too good to be true

And every night I see his face in the corners
and every day I know he's watching me at home
I'm carrying on, ain't got no choice
in his pocket full of toys
and I know that I'm one of his most used

Back In Time
