Empty HeartI saw a face in the mirror this morning, I saw somebody yawning The lines grow deeper, they don't fade I heard a voice in my ears on the front porch, I heard somebody calling You gotta go, there's no time to wait Falling leaves are in my mind Eyes are looming in the dark to deceive and blind 'Cause every night the race goes on and I'm longing for a little fame Love before my days are gone that is harder than it's said for I feel chained to an empty heart, to an empty heart, to an empty heart We don't live like the sun in the blue sky, we don't live forever though spirits still may ride in our memories If I get a chance to find the one, good love I'll build a little heaven where I can dwell for eternity Though I can't see the finish line I know that this road won't lead to the end of time And every night the race goes on and I'm longing for a little fame Love before my days are gone that is harder than it's said for I feel chained to an empty heart to an empty heart, to an empty heart Maybe I'm good, maybe I'm bad, maybe a man, maybe a lad maybe I'm high, maybe I'm low, maybe a friend, maybe a foe If I don't take the final chance let me fall into the final trance And every night the race goes on and I'm longing for a little fame Love before my days are gone that is harder than it's said for I feel chained to an empty heart to an empty heart, to an empty heart |
