On The Run

I don't need anybody, nobody to show
I don't need anybody, I only wanna know

I got an old car running like a boogie band,
I spent a lot of time driving through the honest land
I saw funky people dancing in the sun,
ain't got no home, I'm living on the run

Mama once told me not to be afraid
"You're gonna find the right one,
just believe in fate."
So I did.
I never knew a girl that seemed right for me,
I tried to be a faithful man but they would leave
Nobody calling on the phone, so I stayed home

Father always said, "Son, life is long and hard."
"If you don't work then nothing will be all you've got."
I knew I had to try to find my own way,
I told my mother, father I'd be back someday
I packed my bags, bought a car and then I was ready to go

So I went down the road, not even glancing back
Always looking for my goal,
though I don't know if it's on this track
I went through pain and pleasure,
I went through sun and bad weather but I never
found a place where I belonged

Riding on the wind, watching the sun descend
No soul to be seen in this dirty land
All the towns and people that came along,
tried to speak to them but it seemed all wrong
Felt just like a stranger, so I had enough reason to go

Went further down the road, not even glancing back
Always looking for my goal,
though I don't know if it's on this track
I went through pain and pleasure,
I went through sun and bad weather but I never
found a place where I belonged

One day I crossed a river 'n' on the other side
I found a pretty woman who really caught my eye
I met her on the street, she said,
"Hi, where do you come from?"

I said I came down the road, not even glancing back
Always looking for my goal,
though I don't know if it's on this track
I went through pain and pleasure,
I went through sun and bad weather but I never

I came down the road, not even glancing back,
always looking for my goal,
though I don't know if it's on this track

I spent a few days with her but then I went away
Now everybody on this world, listen what I gotta say
All the miles, baby, that I've done
there's one thing left that I have found

I don't need anybody, nobody to show, ....

Back In Time
