I'm Going Down war das erste Lied, das wir jemals gemeinsam aufnahmen und bei vielen unserer Fans ist es auch noch immer ein Lieblingslied (es soll sogar Leute geben, die fast ausschließlich wegen I'm Going Down zu unseren Auftritten kommen).
Beim ersten Unplugged Konzert im April 2007 haben wir I'm Going Down noch ziemlich genauso gespielt wie es auch auf der ursprünglichen Aufnahme zu hören ist, nur eben ohne verzerrte Gitarren. Für die CD wollte ich das Lied allerdings ein wenig umgestalten. Ich hatte einfach das Gefühl, dass uns nach sieben Jahren mal was Neues dazu einfallen musste, zumal ja schon die ursprüngliche Version relativ viel Akustikgitarre beinhaltete.
Ich denke, dass die Atmosphäre nun etwas intimer, vielleicht auch bedrückender ist und insgesamt besser zum Text passt. Ausgehend von der Bassline hab ich die Akkorde teilweise verändert und mit der Zurücknahme von den geschlagenen Gitarren haben wir, glaub ich, mehr Dynamik ins Arrangement gebracht.
I'm Going Down ist damit für mich eine der interessantesten und überraschendsten Umsetzungen auf Unplugged 5.1.
