Walk (In The Middle Of The Night)

Today on the sidewalk, two children
 playing
playing with life, anger and love
Bells in the sky they stream out the
 front door
starting to talk what they're just
 thinking of

Passing a small park, separate at
 the crossroads
me and my old friend, every day
Saturday night, no one was missing
Coming together, starting to play

We wrote that book so fast, every
line's a piece of the past

Promises made in the heat of the night
Memories fade as time goes by
Whenever we got stranded on a sandbank
we swore we'd never make it last
Instead we took a walk, walk in the
middle of the night; walk, walk in
 the middle of the night

Illusions were shattered, we learned
 from each other
What time would bring, I could not
 guess
Kept moving on filled with emotions
Emotions no one dared to express

And I still hear the sound of our
 shoes tapping the ground

(There were) promises made in the heat
 of the night
Memories fade as time goes by
Whenever we got stranded on a sandbank
we swore we'd never start tumblin'
 'round
Instead we took a walk, walk in the
middle of the night; walk, walk in
 the middle of the night

The old ones are defeated, we rise up
 from the ashes
Brand new wind in the city of dust
Hate and doubt don't lead nowhere
What we've got: love and trust
We'll take a walk in the middle of the
night, take a walk in the middle of
 the night

Promises made in the heat of the night
Memories fade as time goes by
Promises made in the heat of the night
Memories fade as time goes by

Unplugged 5.1
